This code of practice for greenhouse or field inoculation with plant pathogens was developed in 2014 in a joint project by CropLife and the Canadian Phytopathological Society. The code of practice covers only those plant pathogens that are already endemic within the agro-ecological region in Canada, inoculated under greenhouse or field conditions. It is intended to provide guidance to researchers trained in plant pathology who lack experience with inoculation in uncontained situations, or as a review and refresher for experienced practitioners. The document was reviewed and approved by the Executive Board of the Canadian Phytopathological Society in 2014 and then made available to members and other interested individuals by posting it on the CPS website. The code of practice is intended to be a living document, and will be reviewed and revised at regular intervals. Therefore, comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome.
Special thanks to Maria Trainer of CropLife, who pushed the document through to completion.
Prepared by an invited SubCommittee of the Science Policy Committee in 2014.
