On behalf of the local organizing committee for the PPSA / CPS SK 2018, please consider this your invitation to attend the joint meeting of the Plant Pathology Society of Alberta and Saskatchewan regional group of the Canadian Phytopathological Society in Lloydminister on October 15th, 16th and 17th (arrival & reception on the evening of Monday, Oct 15th, last session in the early afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 17th) in downtown Lloydminister at the Day’s Inn (5411 – 44 Street, Lloydminster, AB, Canada T9V 0A9). The meeting will include competitions for the best student and technician presentations and posters. Similar meetings have been held at about five year intervals over the last 20 years, and often draw 80-90 participants. The meeting is being held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Western Forum on Pest Management, which will start on Wednesday evening. Information on submission of presentation titles, abstracts, registration and hotel bookings are located in the attached files. Note that hotel bookings need to be made before September 15 to obtain the group rate. The cut-off for early registrations and due date for abstracts is September 20, 2018.

One of the highlights of the meeting will be a presentation by Dr. T. Murray from Washington State University, who will be presenting a keynote address entitled ‘“Climate change and its impact on diseases of winter wheat.” Dr. Murray has just completed a term as President of the American Phytopathological Society, so this will be a great opportunity for students and young researchers to talk with someone who has achieved enormous recognition for his work in plant pathology and who has an intimate understanding of the inner workings of large plant pathology departments in the USA. There will also be competitions for the best presentation and poster for both students and technicians.

Please forward this notice to any co-workers, students, technicians and other colleagues that would appreciate receiving this notice.
N.B. Please note the change in date from the normal meeting time.
